Born and raised in Novato, I am the proud daughter of immigrants from Mexico. My parents moved to Marin County with the hope that they would be able to provide my brothers and me with a better life. Raised in a working-class household, I grew up watching my father work in restaurants and my mother in housekeeping. From them, I learned the value of hard work, the power of education, and the importance of giving back.

Attending Lynwood Elementary School, Hill Middle School, and Novato High School, my world was opened by teachers, staff, and Junior ROTC Sergeants who believed in me. They taught me that through integrity and personal discipline, I could achieve anything. I was the first in my family to earn a college degree and had to navigate the educational system on my own. I graduated from Novato Unified School District in 2007 before earning an Anthropology degree from UCLA in 2012. I’ll never forget the smiles on my parents’ faces when I accepted my diploma.

My life in public service and advocacy for our community started at an early age. At the age of 15, as a youth leader for the Youth Leadership Institute, I assisted in efforts to pass Marin County’s Alcohol Sponsorship Ordinance – an ordinance that nearly 20 years later, continues to ensure that the Marin County Fair has no active promotion of alcohol consumption to our youth.

I’ve mentored students in our community through various community non-profits and organizations, including 10,000 Degrees, Rotary International and the Marin County Women’s Commission. My mentors open doors for me, and I will always return that kindness.

In 2020, I became one of the leaders of the campaign to save Lynwood Elementary School from closure. During the Save Lynwood campaign, I mobilized the neighborhood surrounding Lynwood Elementary. This campaign and the many relationships I built along the way inspired me to run for the Novato Unified School District Board.

Now in my third year on the Novato School Board, my colleagues have entrusted me to serve as the Board’s Vice President. Working together, we’ve passed balanced budgets, preserved programs that enrich and prepare students, and brought the school on a path to build workforce housing that will keep teachers and staff in the community they serve. I’m proud of the quality education we deliver for our students.

I currently serve as a Senior Revenue Cycle Analyst at UCSF Health and previously served as a Financial Counselor at MarinHealth. There, I helped ensure community members had access to Medi-Cal and worked closely with Marin County case workers to help our most vulnerable populations secure health care they can afford.

I also serve on the Board of Habitat for Humanity Great San Francisco Bay Area, where we make the dream of home ownership a reality for families who would otherwise be unable to afford it.

I’m running for Marin County Supervisor, because our community needs a leader with a proven track record of managing difficult budgets and building diverse coalitions to achieve big things. I’m a leader who listens, who asks the tough questions, and who gets the job done. I hope to earn your vote.
